Non-Nerdcore Top Seven

Here's the deal. The GF got a fifteen dollar iTunes gift certificate (a thank you for buying hundreds of dollars of stock photography. Doesn't add up to me either.) She's generously splitting it with me, so I get seven songs from iTunes' catalog. My problem is, I don't know what to get. The Nerdcore stuff that's available I either have or will get on CD.

So, tell me, what non-nerdcore music, that's available on iTunes, should I get? (and if you don't have iTunes, just assume they have everything.)

As far as non-nerdcore hip hop, I’d suggest Lyrics Born, Swollen Members, and Jurassic 5; all mainstream artists who still manage to be entertaining and at least somewhat relevant.

On the rock side, anything from nineties popsters The Figgs, early Grant Lee Buffalo, Primal Scream, and the modern stylings of sisters Tegan & Sara should serve you well.

For forgotten classics, anything by The Jam, The (English) Beat, and “Run Run Away” or the original version of “Cum on Feel the Noize” by Slade are sure to please.

Oh, and everyone should own some Uncle Tupelo. I'm just sayin'.

Thanks guys. That's what I was looking for. Slade and the Monkees are perfect. Don't need a whole album, but do need a couple songs. I'm going to have to spend some time giving the unfamiliar ones a listen, too. (Tegan and Sara are a probable so far.)
